Meditation Workshop...all day every day
A lovely young woman discovered my Flow website and invited me to teach a Meditation Workshop. At first I thought the timing was off as it's such a busy time of year with so many things on the go.
Then I realised that's exactly why the timing was perfect and indeed within moments of posting the event it was fully booked.
How is it that sometimes despite our best efforts things just don't "work." And at other times we effortlessly fall into grace. I know that we are powerful beyond measure, capable of manifesting absolutely anything, yet paradoxically we need to surrender completely to what is.
During this workshop we will investigate what it is to meditate. More and more I believe it has less and less to do with sitting or standing in a significant posture that announces "I am meditating." While we will learn these often poetic and profound postures from various ancient traditions as well as meditation props like pranayama, mantras and mala beads, my own journey has revealed the necessity for meditation off the mat during the less than glamorous or holy moments of daily life.
How is this uncomfortable moment treating you? More to the point, how are you handling it?
Are you aware of your breath?
How does it feel to be in your body RIGHT NOW. Not "just now" or "now now" as we South Africans put it.
Right here.
Right now.
Notice everything through the senses which are your interface with what is -- the grand illusion. See how being present alters everything. How sinking into yourself, rather than limiting your perceptions, or projecting yourself outwards opens you up to a vast expansiveness that allows for blessed peace.
Every person I meet of late strikes me as an angel bearing tidings of great significance -- whether they be my students, friends, family or strangers. During Qi Gong on the windswept beach today a meaningful exchange, while teaching online the parallels and synchronicity too powerful to ignore. This human need for Meaning is what sets us apart from other living things. Our minds get in the way of the oneness of purpose that other plants and animals seem to languish in, but they also enable us to Wonder at the Magic.
We have a tendency to get in the way of our Wholeness.
How about noticing that you are already that which you seek.
Rumi, the divine mystic, said it like it is...

Befriend yourself as you are.
As
you
are.
