Fab 42
It's been a rich coming of age. I celebrated my 42nd birthday, and if you don't catch the reference above, please do yourself a favour.... There are so many delightful moments I wish to share with an abundant sense of Gratitude for my life, and all the people and experiences that bless me.
Beginning with Open Streets!
What a necessary breaking down of barriers...whether they be vehicular or those large physical and metaphorical walls we build between ourselves and "others." This fun Sunday spent cycling, strolling and dancing with my fellow Cape Townians in Woodstock was a tonic. A tonic I tell you! Oh what we sacrifice for our false perceptions of convenience, productivity and security.
I had tears falling from my open heart onto those colourful streets filled with smiling people, art and music.
A wonderful Ah-Ha moment was seeing this sign and realising how scarcity thinking around water, money, time, EVERYTHING is at the heart of the world's problems.

As a bday pressie my sweet hubby realised exactly what my Flow studio was lacking and it's this fatsak!
Already after not even a fortnight, I'm not sure how we managed without it. It's a beautiful comfy spot for dreaming, reading, writing (this very blog at this very moment) and even napping. Love it!
I also got to see two GREAT shows - "King Kong" at the beautiful Fugard Theatre and an all female version of Shakespeare's "The Taming of the Shrew" at our outdoor theatre Maynardville. "King Kong" just made me so proud of the talent here in the Mother City and Tara Notcutt's interpretation of the Shrew was a real game changer. So brave and also loads of fun replete with the music of my youth. Here's Tara's rockin playlist - turn it up loud and let your hair down ;)
After a gorgeous 'food-as-art' luncheon at The Potluck Club, chef extraordinaire Luke Dale Robert's more affordable and playful option for those of us who can't quite stomach the Test Kitchen's tab (see what I did there), I realised that the best things in life truly are free as I saw my birthday out on our golden beach with my lovely family and whales frolicking just offshore.
After a few quiet days of hiking, swimming, cycling, meditating, reading & reflecting on my lonesome at the Blue Hippo outside of picturesque Greyton (my bday pressie to myself) it was lovely to collaborate with the awesome Nia goddess Maggie and a bevvy of talented teachers at the inaugural Kommetjie Wellness Day, the cherry on top - Lush Food's banquet. It doesn't hurt that friendships with these powerful, creative, optimistic women were forged in some pretty intense fires. It was our first but certainly not our last celebration of mindful movement and joyful living in the Deep South.
Thanks everyone for all the gifts and beautiful interactions. I fully embrace this phase of my life.
