Metal
Salutations to my Upright Courageous Knights!
Lest we forget: We are Stardust…we are golden…
The ONLY way to work with Metal is to warm it.
So let's do the thing that's most difficult to do with alllll that armour on, let's Dance, to the warmth of our own hearts and Ben Harper's 'Gold to Me':
Breathe:
Use the Ujayi Breath -- to warm and soothe
Full yogic breath: Abdominal Breath / thoracic / clavicular
Our Metal possesses these qualities:
Integrity / Hypocrisy
Methodical or Structured / Rigidity
Fair / Authoritative
Perfection / Disappointment
Control / Controlling
Logical /Self-doubt
The season of Metal is fittingly the one we find ourselves in here in the Southern Hemisphere, Late Autumn ~
Decide what needs to be stored for Winter and what can be
discarded.
Let go of losses and disappointments that could lead to
grief.
Make:
Foil Mask - what do you see in your reflection?
Aluminum Tin Foil Art
Begin by writing a Code of Conduct – hold yourself
accountable – incorporate words or images from this Chivalric code in your
artwork.
Think of your noble calling, your higher good, your holy quest.
Draw the pattern/words on a piece of card, then trace the outlines with wood glue and
allow to dry.
Later spread glue stick over the card and then stick the foil
down.
Cover your finger with some paper towel and rub the foil
flat so that the embossed bits stand out.
Using a blunt pencil, embellish and add detail.
Cover with black shoe polish and gently rub off.

MOVE:
Yin meridian of Metal/Lung runs from the clavicle bones
along the inside of the the arms to the thumbs.
Yang meridian of Metal/Large intestine runs from index
finger along top of arms, up throat, sides of the mouth, ending outside the
nostrils.
Loop the meridians.
Source point Lung 9 – wrist crease directly below the thumb.
Large Intestine 4 – back of hand in the webbing between
thumb and forefinger.
Hold both points simultaneously.
Metal is the end cycle of the elements
Neural vascular point – one hand on forehead, first three fingers of
other hand on crown of the head. Allow the emotions to flow.
Neural lymphatic points:
- Massage tender points between the ribs, rub sternum (lung)
-
Rub along the outside of the thigh (large
intestine – constipation massage down, diarrhea massage up)
For sore throat massage in the palm below the thumb.
Hook thumbs and extend arms behind you.
Inhale and exhale bend forward – arms up to the sky.
Yoga –
Lungs: all backward bending asana & pranayama
Lungs: all backward bending asana & pranayama
Large Intestines: twists and pressure in the abdomen/forward bends.
As always Flow resonated very powerfully for me and my students
in both the inner and the external plane.
I just happened to visit a new local gallery, The Norval Foundation, which was an impressive demonstration of the power of the Metal element.
